The Branch is an independently registered charity (no 224337) affiliated to but not funded by the National RSPCA. RSPCA Llys Nini provides animal welfare throughout Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend. The local volunteers have to raise over £500,000 in order to fund the charity's work.
The main aim is to rescue and rehome abused and unwanted animals, but it also does a lot of work in protecting the environment and helping vulnerable people especially in the field of training.

Llys Nini runs the RSPCA Llys Nini Animal Centre in Penllergaer, Swansea and a clinic for the pets of people on low incomes in Neath. We can also help towards the cost of getting your pet neutered and micro-chipped.
The RSPCA Branch was established in Swansea / Neath areas over 100 years ago. The first animal centre was leased from Swansea Corporation in 1935 and was able to house 31 dogs and 18 cats. It was run for many years by Bill Deane and rescued thousands of animals. In 1997 the Animal Centre moved to Llys Nini Farm.
The original clinic in Neath was merely a shed, thanks to the support of local animal lovers and under the guidance of Inspector Nash a purpose-built clinic was built in the 1960. The "Neath Clinic" has treated many 1000s of animals over the years. It continues its work, on Wednesday evenings, in its new home at St James Vet Surgery in Neath.
In order to raise funds for our work, Llys Nini Branch has 7 charity shops. All the profit from the shops go to Llys Nini Animal Centre and the clinic. The shops are in Swansea Kingsway, Gorseinon High Street, Stepney St., Llanelli, John Street Porthcawl, Aberafan Shopping Centre, Angel Place Neath and Newton Road Mumbles.
The shops are always need donations of clothes and bric a brac. (Clothes, bedding etc. don't have to be the best quality or great condition, as we can recycle what we don't sell).

The branch helps about 2,000 animals each year, by rehoming unwanted and abused pets, providing treatment for sick and injured animals at the clinic and acting as a reception and first aid station for wildlife.
The Branch is run by a committee volunteer Trustees, it is a local community charity promoting Animal Welfare, the Environment and helping disadvantaged people and their pets. All the Trustees are also members of the RSPCA while many of our supporters are volunteers, who give us some of their time working at the animal centre, clinic or shops. Other supporters help us to rescue animals by sponsoring an animal space at Llys Nini through our Safe Haven Scheme.
The Branch also employs a number of people to work at the Animal Centre or in our shops. All our jobs are advertised on the jobs page (see News and Events) and in the Job Centre. There are sometimes opportunities for work placements for people over the age of 16 at the Animal Centre and in the shops.
All members of the RSPCA Llys Nini Branch have to join the RSPCA before they can become members of Llys Nini Branch. Members are invited to stand as Trustees and to attend the AGM annually. (To be eligible to stand as a Trustee, members have had to belong to the Branch for at least 3 months.) The AGM is usually held in May/June, the members receive the annual report and the accounts.
